So the Champions League draw took place this morning. Surprisingly it was quite quick, there was less messing around than usual. We were drawn against Barcelona in the quarter finals, a team who are arguably the favourites to win the competition. But I am quite pleased with the draw, we avoided Utd – this was quite a biggie for me. If we are to get knocked out I would far rather go out to European opposition than domestic, I think a loss to Utd would have had more of a consequence on our league campaign than if we were to lose to a strong Euro side.
Barcelona will play an open game, something that suits us. This is going to be a great tie if both sides play at the top of their games. Can you imagine the reception Thierry is going to get? It will be amazing, the biggest game the grove has ever seen. I really am looking forward to it, it should be a cracker.
There are some gooners who are worried, we are the underdogs, but remember we were the underdogs against Real Madrid, against Juventus, we beat both of those strong European sides and there is no reason we cannot do the same this time round.
