Stoke v Arsenal (FA Cup) Preview

24 01 2010

Today sees us face Stoke in the FA Cup, a continuation of our tougher draws this season compared to the holders. Given our ever increasing injury list it is no surprise that Arsene said a number of the youngsters will play;

After confirming Jack Wilshere, Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre would be the squad he added: “We have called up Kyle Bartley, Jay Emmanuel Thomas, Francis Coquelin, Gilles Sunu, and Craig Eastmond.

“Sol will be OK to play [after regaining fitness] but, right now, I don’t know if I play him. However it is a big opportunity for him if he does.

“I have to make a decision at right back too. Eastmond is possible. We moved him from there to central midfield in the past, so we’ll see. But Coquelin can play right back as well.”

We have some massive games coming up in the league so I think it is only fair to concentrate on that when you take our injuries into account. Whilst I would love another Wembley appearance I don’t want that to be at the expense of the league when we, currently, have a genuine chance of winning it. But Arsene is in a no win situation, if we go out there will be complaints, stay in the competition and cock up the league there will be complaints as well.

The game is on ITV so we will have to endure the commentary again, not the best thing for a Sunday lunchtime.

Twitter updates during the game. Enjoy it wherever you are watching.
